It's that magical time of year
Feeling nostalgic?
It's December 14th
And I'm back in Massachusetts
Went through my childhood closet
And I told myself "Don't do it"
But I dug past the pointe shoes
And the empty Titos handle
And my brushed the box
Where I keep your letters and your flannel
Slipped my arms into the sleeves
And it felt like you were hugging me
Now I feel this need
To let my fingers "accidentally" unblock
And knock knock, I'm outside your door
Just this Christmas season
Pretend I'm still yours
We could build a gingerbread house
Call it our humble abode
And I could be your angel
Drawing hearts in the snow
Just keep our heads down
So my friends'll never know
That this year's Hallmark movie
Features last year's
Ho ho ho, sweeter than cookie dough
Candy cane kisses and your hand to hold
I won't say a thing when we hit holiday traffic
I'll just sit there and sing
"Deck the Halls" and all the classics
You're swerving around
But that won't get me down
If he's the Grinch then I can fix him somehow
We could build a gingerbread house
Call it our humble abode
And I could be your angel
Drawing hearts in the snow
Just keep our heads down
So my friends'll never know
That this year's Hallmark movie
Features last year's
Ho ho ho, sweeter than cookie dough
Candy cane kisses and your hand to hold
Tis the season of forgiveness, so I forgive you
In fact you're on my wishlist
So make it come true
We could build a gingerbread house
It'll be our happy home, until it's New Years Day
And I'll be hitting the road
Just keep our heads down
So my friends'll never know
That this year's Hallmark movie
Features last year's
Ho ho ho, sweeter than cookie dough
Candy cane kisses, and away I go
(That never happened)
