iann dior has shared new single 'thought it was', featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker
It's the latest taster of Dior's forthcoming album 'On To Better Things', set to arrive on Friday (20th January)
About This Track
Machine Gun Kelly and iann dior trade verses on a song about the wreckage left behind when you pour yourself into someone else and find yourself hollowed out. The track moves between two perspectives on the same collapse: Kelly's account of giving everything and discovering there's nothing left to offer, iann dior's mirror image of self-sabotage and emotional depletion. The chorus lands on a single devastating image, the moment when someone looks at you and recognises the absence where a person used to be. The song builds its argument through accumulation. Skeletons, nightmares, a heart given away and lost. Smoking too much, drunk texts, a heart torn open again. By the outro, the metaphor shifts into something more clinical: running low on serotonin, struggling to function without the thing that kept you going. It's a portrait of two people trying to love each other whilst falling apart, each unable to be what the other needs because neither has anything left to give.
