About This Track

Naïka builds '1+1' around a central conceit: that love with the right person defies arithmetic. The track moves through declarations of devotion, each verse deepening the intimacy with fresh detail. She compares her lover to Liverpool, invokes French endearments, describes falling "deep like ocean floors". The chorus anchors everything in its central metaphor, the idea that one plus one equals three with him. What holds the song together is restraint in the production and precision in the lyric. There are no grand gestures here, just steady accumulation. A grapevine grows roots in her heart. She keeps the relationship locked away, safe. The bridge strips things back further, a repeated affirmation that her lover is present and committed. By the final chorus, the arithmetic has become almost beside the point; what matters is the certainty underneath it.

"1+1" is a track by Naïka, released 1st September 2023. Full lyrics are available below.

Lyrics

1+1

[Verse 1]

Took a one step closer, ain't no going back

You're my full-time lover, boy, they don't know about that

Now I'm in my feelings, never be the same

There's not too many people who give me that way, that way

[Pre-Chorus]

And oh, it's a real good love

It's too hard to take it slow

You got roots in my heart like a grapevine, we gon' grow

And I know at the end of the day

That I don't know, where we go

All I know

[Chorus]

Is you're the water of my life

You're the essence of my tribe

Nеver known love this true

I know that onе plus one is three with you

I can't believe my eyes

That you were meant to be mine

Never known love this true

I know that one plus one is three with you

[Post-Chorus]

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I do

I know that one plus one is three with you

[Verse 2]

I love you like you love Liverpool

Way you call me, "Mon amour"

One look in your eyes, I go dumb

Make my heart go rum-pum-pum-pum

You make me fall, fall deep like ocean floors

Down the window to our universe

It's just the two of us, the two of us

[Pre-Chorus]

Say oh, it's a real good love

It's too hard to take it slow

You got roots in my heart like a grapevine, we gon' grow

And I know at the end of the day

That I don't know, where we go

All I know

[Chorus]

Is you're the water of my life

You're the essence of my tribe

Never known love this true

I know that one plus one is three with you

I can't believe my eyes

That you were meant to be mine

Never known love this true

I know that one plus one is three with you

[Post-Chorus]

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I do

I know that one plus one is three with you

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I do

I know that one plus one is three with you

Three with you

[Bridge]

Lock it, we keep it in pocket

Every day all night, yeah, my baby, he be on it

He be on it, on it, on it

He be on it, on it, on it

Lock it, we keep it in pocket

Every day all night, yeah, my baby, he be on it

He be on it, on it, on it

He be on it, on it, on it

[Chorus]

Water of my life

Essence of my tribe

Never known love this true, yes, I do know

One plus one is three with you

I can't believe my—

No, I can't believe my eyes

That you were meant to be mine, it's true

I know that one plus one is three with you

[Post-Chorus]

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I

I do, I do, I do

I know that one plus one is three with you
