About This Track

Nick Jonas enlists Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo for 'Close', a track built on the tension between desire and emotional distance. The song turns on a simple conceit: that space itself is a defence mechanism, a word invented by people too afraid to be vulnerable. Jonas and Lo circle each other across the verses, their voices meeting in a chorus that pushes against restraint, the hook insisting that closeness can never quite be close enough. The production sits somewhere between restraint and urgency. Verses move with conversational ease before the chorus opens up, all echo and space, the irony of the lyric sharpened by the room around it. It's a song about the gap between wanting someone and letting them want you back, and it doesn't resolve that gap so much as live inside it, turning the discomfort into something almost physical.
