About This Track

'Hydrangeas' by nothing, nowhere. is an alternative track from the album 'Hell or Highwater' (2024). The lyrics pitch a spiralling, self-interrogating numbness, with images of pills, club lights, and financial panic, alongside the pull of avoiding consequences. A chorus hangs on colour and comparison, pairing “Pills same shade as hydrangeas” with a sense of displacement and attempted repair, even as the speaker inventories what has been sold, taken, and then erased. The closing question, “Would you have stayed if I didn't break things?”, reads like a hard, conditional apology.

"Hydrangeas" is a track by nothing, nowhere., from the album Hell or Highwater, released 28th June 2024. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 3 articles about nothing,nowhere..

Lyrics

Hydrangeas

[Chorus: Darcy Baylis]

Pills same shade as hydrangeas

Club lights look like notation

Emptied out the ATM

"Re: Stacks", I don't wanna go there

New GATs, I already sold them

Would you have stayed if I didn't break things?

Took two or three, memory erased

Rehab, free vacation

But, I'm scared that I'm losin' patience

Hard drugs, yeah, I wanna take them

[Verse: nothing,nowhere.]

And it's alright

We'll be alright by sunrise

Look in your eyes

I see them gloss and lose their light

I guess I'll sleep alone tonight

There was no noise

You were the wind and I was the cowboy

In the country

It felt real, you were with me

But, I woke up in the city

[Chorus: Darcy Baylis]

Pills same shade as hydrangeas

Club lights look like notation

Emptied out the ATM

"Re: Stacks", I don't wanna go there

New GATs, I already sold them

Would you have stayed if I didn't break things?

Took two or three, memory erased

Rehab, free vacation

But, I'm scared that I'm losin' patience

Hard drugs, yeah, I wanna take them
