Lyrics

Vortex

You're in the vortex now
Flip the switch to distorted sound
We are the underground
Creeping in through the cobra's mouth
You're in the vortex now
Feeling nauseous as tremors bounce
Who are the girls in the town?
We're on your doorstep now

Who are the girls in town?
Pick up your phones better answer now
Who are the girls in town?
Hear them miles away, we're on your doorstep now
Who are the girls in town?
Pick up your phones better answer now
Who are the girls in town?
We're on your doorstep now

Tick, tick, tick, like a bomb shell
Scrunch your face like a bad smell
I can tell that they love it when their hips swell
Watch their hair get ecstatic from their flip twirls
Shake, shake, shake until your brain melts
We don't care if you got it or you need help
If you haven't got the rhythm you can learn how to slap it down
Freak it out, turn around, jump about, scream it loud

Who are the girls in town?
Pick up your phones better answer now
Who are the girls in town?
Hear them miles away, we're on your doorstep now
Who are the girls in town?
Pick up your phones better answer now
Who are the girls in town?
We are the underground

You're in the vortex now
Flip the switch to distorted sound
We are the underground
Creeping in through the cobra's mouth
You're in the vortex now
Feeling nauseous as tremors bounce
Who are the girls in town?
We are the underground

You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound
You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound
We are the underground
Creeping in through the cobra's mouth
You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound

You're not in control
We're all slaves
To the rhythm
So get comfortable
Are you all
In position

You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound
You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound
We are the underground
Creeping in through the cobra's mouth
You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound

You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound
You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound
We are the underground
Creeping in through the cobra's mouth
You're in the vortex now
Flip on the switch to distorted sound

Why Nova Twins’ ‘Who Are The Girls?’ still sounds built for the crowd

Nova Twins’ 2020 debut grew out of years on the live circuit, then lost much of its first touring campaign to lockdown. Its pedal-built sound and audience-centred purpose make it worth revisiting.
