There was a moon in the sky

So thin, you could barely see its outline

It wasn't shining very much

Just enough for the seagulls to sing for it

And the night — too dark — was frightening them

There was a window

Between the universe and I

And the rain would crash on the glass

But never on us

Flowers remained asleep

Stained so long ago[?]

There was a moon in the sky

I dreamed I grabbed it and tossed it in the sea
