About This Track

‘Reflex’ by Parcels is an alternative track from the album ‘Day/Night’ (2021). The lyrics drift through images of morning light, honey-like glow, and clouds turning into storm, before settling on a more personal state of motion and breath. In the chorus, the speaker frames “holding on” as damaging, and describes loss tied to going overseas. The overall mood is restless and self-interrogating, as if the body is learning new rhythms while the mind tries to catch up.

"Reflex" is a track by Parcels, from the album Day/Night, released 5th November 2021. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 4 articles about Parcels.

Lyrics

Reflex

[Verse 1]

See the morning hour

Glowing just like honey

All of the clouds are born here

Ripening to a storm

Here I am in motion

Floating out to sea

Deep within all this water

I'm beginning to breathe

[Chorus]

Holding on is breaking a part of me

I lost when I went overseas

I lost when I thought you were being loved

Holding on is taking a toll on me

I lost when I thought that's the feeling love

When that's the feeling lust

[Verse 2]

Lean into the open

Take me to the beach

Show me a way to love this

All that is just a moment

All that can never last

[Chorus]

Holding on is breaking a part of me

I lost when I went overseas

I lost when I thought you were being loved

Holding on is taking a toll on me

I lost when I thought that's the feeling love

When that's the feeling lust

Holding on is breaking a part of me

I lost when I went overseas

I lost when I thought you were being loved

Holding on is taking a toll on me

I lost when I thought that's the feeling love

When that's the feeling lust

Parcels - Loved

They’ve tried on different versions of themselves across over a decade as a band, but the iteration of them on ‘LOVED’ feels like the truest yet.

Parcels find the fun again on their new album 'LOVED'

Formed in Byron Bay and now based in Berlin, Parcels have spent the past decade building their reputation on harmony-driven grooves. With new album ‘LOVED’, they embrace a looser, more joyous sound.
