‘Cataracts’ by Pavement is a rock track from the album ‘Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed.’ In the lyrics, the address is intimate and slightly accusatory, with the speaker questioning what the other person feels and why, then sounding caught up in the effort to get back on their feet, dropping hints of obsession and hopefulness. A key refrain, “Waitin' for you to come back now”, captures the yearning at the centre of the song. The final lines keep the mood restless and repetitive, suggesting a cycle of waiting, guessing, and taking chances.
