'The Classical' by Pavement is a 1999 track from the EP 'Major Leagues [EP]'. The lyrics hop between historical figures and a first-person fixation on discomfort and refuge, with repeated claims of feeling better and a quick, address-like exchange, before ending on an image of darkness inside the mind. It is full of abrupt turns, comic deflation, and a slightly menacing, half-dream logic, summarised by the line “I never felt better in my life”.

The band will release their first song since 1999 as part of a new documentary film's soundtrack.

The film offers an intimate look at the band's reunion tour preparations.

The cover coincides with her summer tour dates.

Due to arrive on 12th August via Matador, it will include a replica of the original demo cassette the band sent out to prospective record label.

The news comes alongside a new video for 'Harness Your Hopes', starring Yellowjackets' Sophie Thatcher.
