Fresh Static Snow - Commentary

""Fresh Static Snow" is the first song I wrote using AVANNA, the Vocaloid program. Uh, y'know I was really operating in this slowed-down sort of world of 90 BPM, and I was writing a bass-ier hook - y'know, that's what you hear at the beginning - and then it went into these very disco-y soulful chords. And, uh, I just felt it really called for an almost eerie vocal - for some reason, I felt that that was a nice contrast. And, I wrote the melody for that, and then the lyrics. That was the order for that particular song, I remember. And, yeah - "Fresh Static Snow", to me, is about this idea that I was really obsessed with when I was at my loneliest, about this idea that there necessarily exists a best, like, romantic partner for every person in the world, somewhere out there. I mean, there are billions of people out there and you'll meet only a fraction of them, and to me, y'know, the likelihood that you’ll ever meet a person who will make you that happy is just infinitesimal, y'know. There’s a very very small chance of that, and if you really consider that idea, that that person is out there, exist and is walking, and is like, eating their breakfast cereal or whatever right now, looking all cute. And the notion that you will never know each other, that really made me sad, I think. And this song was y'know, dedicated- me dedicating, *clears throat*, this song was like me dedicating something to whoever that person is. Maybe they’ll hear it, how fucking cool would that be?
