About This Track

'REFUGE' by PSY is a 2017 song that weighs up everyday fatigue and emotional self-reliance, with the speaker insisting they have managed to endure, yet still needing somewhere to lean. The lyrics move between pretending things are fine, admitting the world is hard and the self is not as strong as it pretends to be, and then asking directly for comfort, when “Who” is supposed to soothe a gruelling day. The tone is candid and slightly resigned, with a sense that endurance alone cannot keep going.
