About This Track

'Never Try' by PUP is a 2013 track from the album 'PUP'. The lyrics sketch a narrator who drifts through mornings and long nights, living inside dreams of a childhood schoolyard and an older street life. There’s a sense of being gently corrected by someone else, followed by a shrug in which the narrator calls it “just a phase”, then floats forward to a future self who never seems to return with any clear plan. The mood is resigned and cyclical, as if the present is only another waiting room.
