About This Track
The title track of Rammstein's debut album opens with a single word repeated like a chant, then unfolds as a catalogue of atrocity. A person burns. A child dies. Blood congeals on asphalt. Mothers scream. Throughout, the sun continues to shine, indifferent. The song builds its horror through accumulation rather than narrative, each image isolated and brutal, separated by the band's name invoked as a kind of refrain or incantation. What emerges is less a song about a specific event than a meditation on catastrophe itself, on the gap between human suffering and the world's impassive continuation. The lyrics, credited to Rammstein, strip away context and sentiment, leaving only the raw fact of devastation. There is no explanation, no redemption, no meaning imposed from outside. The repetition of the title becomes both anchor and hammer, driving the song deeper into its own darkness with each return.
"Rammstein" is a track by Rammstein, from the album Herzeleid, released 29th September 1995. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Rammstein.
