Rammstein have announced their new album, 'Zeit'
Following three years after their untitled album, their eighth full-length is set for release on 29th April, preceded by the title track.
About This Track
The lead single from Rammstein's third studio album 'Mutter', released in 2001, 'Sonne' began life as a proposed entrance track for the boxer Vitali Klitschko before evolving into something more elemental. The German industrial metal band built the song around a counted intro and refrain that frames the sun as both life-giving force and destructive power, Till Lindemann's lyrics moving from collective anticipation to individual confrontation.
The track counts upward through its structure, each number announcing the arrival of 'der hellste Stern von allen' (the brightest star of all). Lindemann writes of light that can blind and burn, a sun that shines from hands and eyes, that presses hot against the face and chest, that knocks equilibrium into loss. The imagery shifts from the cosmic to the corporeal, the sun's heat rendered as something that drops you hard to the ground whilst the world counts loudly to ten.
"Sonne" is a single by Rammstein, from the album Mutter, released 1st April 2001. The track is 4:32 long. It's filed under Metal. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Rammstein.
