About This Track

'Regular Degular' by Red Tips is a 2024 song in which the lyrics voice a devout, defensive prayer, with the singer framing their faith as a calming presence, while casting an antagonistic force as persistently trying to hold them down. In the chorus they insist, “Holy Spirit be showin' me love”, then move into images of prayer and scripture, promising to take time in that presence rather than rushing. The religious vocabulary is explicit and combative in tone, with the track staging a struggle between temptation and devotion.

"Regular Degular" is a track by Red Tips, released 5th April 2024. Full lyrics are available below.

Lyrics

Regular Degular

[Chorus]

Yeah, Holy Spirit be showin' me love

Took the blood, I'm drinkin' it up

When I pray I ain't tryna rush

I just sit in His presence and hush

Satan really out here tryna keep me down

Don't know why he keep comin' around

Open the scripture, I'm breakin' it down

Trap out the Word like I'm flippin' a pound

God know I keep Him first

I give Him praise when I'm not in the church

Thankful for Jesus, He breakin' the curse

Thought I was bad, but the devil he worse

The lies that he told me, I'm breakin' 'em

Only put trust in the Lord, ain't no fakin' Him

You would think God is a goose how I'm chasin' Him

He told mе taste and then see so I'm tastin' Him

I had to taste and thеn see that He good for real

He ain't no regular degular

[Verse]

He broke it down, got a cell in a cellular

Alpha, omega, the OG developer

User busy when you talkin' 'bout Him

Don't talk 'bout my God 'cause He ain't one of them

Pool full of presence, I'm takin' a swim

Like Jesus, I just wanna be like Him

Jesus, I just wanna be like

Gotta sharpen my eyes so they see Christ

Gotta sharpen my mind so they see light

'Cause they dead in their sin, they can't see right

But God took the devil and huh, huh

Under my feet, I'm like huh, huh

Child of the King I'm like huh, huh

He thought I was down like huh, huh, huh, huh

[Interlude]

(Yeah, Holy Spirit be showin' me love

Took the blood, I'm drinkin' it up

When I pray I ain't tryna rush

I just sit in His presence and hush

Satan really out here tryna keep me down

Don't know why he keep comin' around

Open the scripture, I'm breakin' it down

Trap out the Word like I'm flippin' a pound)

[Chorus]

Holy Spirit be showin' me love

Took the blood, I'm drinkin' it up

When I pray I ain't tryna rush

I just sit in His presence and hush

Satan really out here tryna keep me down

Don't know why he keep comin' around

[Post-Chorus]

Taste and then see that He good for real

Taste and then see that He good for real

He ain't no regular degular

He ain't no regular

Taste and then see that He good for real
