'Ever Again' closes Robyn's album Honey as a dance track built on a simple, defiant pledge: never to let heartbreak devastate her again. The song finds her laying out the terms of a healthier relationship, one where both parties can be themselves without the pulling and pushing that marked previous attempts. She moves past old patterns of argument and game-playing with the clarity of someone who has decided the cost is too high. Robyn wrote the track with Metronomy's Joe Mount near the end of the album's long recording process. They needed a break from the heavier material that had accumulated, so Mount began playing synthesizer chords that sparked the chorus. The result sits apart from much of what surrounds it: a closing statement that sounds like relief, delivered with the kind of rhythmic insistence that turns a personal boundary into something you can dance to. Critics highlighted it as one of the strongest moments on the record, a finale that earns its position.
"Ever Again" is a single by Robyn, from the album Honey, released 25th October 2018. The track is 4:24 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 9 articles about Robyn.
