About This Track

'Eggshell' by Runnner is an indie rock track from the 'Fan On - EP' released in 2019. The lyrics find a speaker stuck in a loop of procrastination and self-scrutiny, with a domestic image of cracking eggshells in the pan too hard standing in for fragile caution. The voice keeps returning to contact and routine, including the line about “keep texting my therapist”, before trailing off into resignation, with the sense that there is nothing to do but carry on. It is anxious, lightly comic in its imagery, and persistently self-aware.
