A celebration of feminine power and sexual confidence, 'Glamazon' casts a woman as an unstoppable force of nature. RuPaul builds the track around a simple, repeatable hook that names her as a "female phenomenon", whilst the verses stack boasts and invitations to dance. The pre-chorus calls out "Sashay! Shantay!" in call-and-response, a nod to the language of the drag stage, and the production leans into arena-ready bombast with its driving beat and layered vocal arrangements. The music video, released in 2012, enlists three finalists from the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race as towering, Godzilla-style creatures destroying a retro video-game cityscape. It's a visual metaphor made literal: these glamazons are not to be contained or diminished. The track itself moves at a clip, its three-and-a-half-minute runtime packed with repetition and momentum, designed less for introspection than for the dancefloor and the runway.
"Glamazon" is a track by RuPaul, from the album Glamazon, released 3rd May 2011. Full lyrics are available below.
