About This Track

'Stop' by Silverstein is a rock track from the album 'A Beautiful Place to Drown' (2020). The lyrics set up a suffocating, involuntary intimacy, as if someone else has moved into the speaker’s mind, turning daily space into a “ghost town”. Visual images follow, with blur and washout suggesting overload, while the refrain of struggling to stay afloat gives the song a panicked, pleading edge. The voice keeps asking whether anything can be done, then hits a blunt point of surrender, closing on the sense that the moment has slipped beyond control.

"Stop" is a track by Silverstein, from the album A Beautiful Place to Drown, released 6th March 2020. The track is 3:25 long. It's filed under Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 6 articles about Silverstein.

Lyrics

Stop

Feels like you're living in my head now
A tidal wave through a ghost town
My vision blurring like a watercolour
I'm washed out now, I'm washed out

Is there something I can do now?
It's like I'm singing out of tune now
Just trying to keep my head above it all
It's no use now, I'm washed out

I thought that I'd escape
But I never really had a shot
I thought that I could shake it
But I know that it's never gonna

Stop until my heartbeat does
Can't remember who I was
Before you came through
And I know that it's never gonna (stop)

I think I've gone over the edge
Is this as bad as it's gonna get?
I think I'll drown in my own regret
It's no use now, it's never gonna

Stop until my heartbeat does
Can't remember who I was (who I was)
Before you came through
And I know that it's never gonna

Stop until my lungs give up
Never thought I'd self destruct (self destruct)
Before you came through
And I know that it's never gonna (stop)

I thought that I'd escape
But I never really had a shot (had a shot)
I thought that I could shake it
But I know that it's never gonna

It's a beautiful place to drown
Last breath is a constellation
No light gets this far down
I know that it's never gonna

Stop until my heartbeat does
Can't remember who I was
Before you came through
And I know that it's never gonna

Stop until my heartbeat does
Can't remember who I was (who I was)
Before you came through
And I know that it's never gonna

Stop until my lungs give up
Never thought I'd self destruct (self destruct)
Before you came through
And I know that it's never gonna (stop)

I thought that I'd escape
But I never really had a shot (had a shot)
I thought that I could shake it
But I know that it's never gonna
