Lyrics

Defector

[Verse 1: John Cooper]

Lies, all your so-called friends that left you behind

And your insecurities are the only thing that you believe

Everyone feels like they're faking

You disappear into the crowd

Right behind your smiling face

Inside, you're bleeding out

[Chorus: John Cooper]

I will be your light when you can't see

I will be your breath when you can't breathe

I know the battle you've been through

I'm never backing out on you

Even when nobody else believes

I will be the one who never leaves

I'll be at your side forever

I will never be a defector

(I will never be a defector)

[Verse 2: John Cooper]

Gone

All your never-answered prayers left you numb

And your insecurities are the only thing you ever see

Maybe love's a chance worth taking

If you let me show you how

Start again, reverse the breaking

Stop the bleeding out

[Chorus: John Cooper]

I will be your light when you can't see

I will be your breath when you can't breathe

I know the battle you've been through

I'm never backing out on you

Even when nobody else believes

I will be the one who never leaves

I'll be at your side forever

I will never be a defector

[Post-Chorus: John Cooper]

I will never be a defector

No

[Chorus: John Cooper]

I will be your light when you can't see

I will be your breath when you can't breathe

I know the battle you've been through

I'm never backing out on you

Even when nobody else believes

I will be the one who never leaves

I'll be at your side forever

I will never be a defector

When you can't see

When you can't breathe

I'm never backing out on you

Even when nobody else believes

I will be the one who never leaves

I'll be at your side forever

I will never be a defector

[Outro: John Cooper]

I will never be a defector
