About This Track

'Spiders' stands as one of the album's moments of intensity, a darkly atmospheric piece that finds Slipknot moving into funkier, more experimental territory. Corey Taylor's vocals circle around a cacophony of scattershot drums and creeping piano, whilst the track strips away the bottom-heavy guitars that typically anchor the band's sound. It's a deliberate move away from expectation, one that shows the breadth of what the band can achieve beyond their established heaviness. The song circles around themes of exposure and vulnerability, with Taylor pondering questions of worth and survival as the chorus repeats its refrain about predators and prey. It's characteristically bleak, but delivered with a restraint that makes the track feel like a calculated risk rather than a departure. A Dork four-star record, 'We Are Not Your Kind' finds Slipknot at their most cohesive, and 'Spiders' proves that intensity doesn't always require maximum volume.

"Spiders" is a track by Slipknot, from the album We Are Not Your Kind, released 8th August 2019. The track is 4:04 long. It's filed under Metal. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 5 articles about Slipknot.

Lyrics

Spiders

Well, you can go it alone, or keep it in between
The pages of the books you burn so no one gets to read
The fingers pull your stitches tight, but knowing someone's secret is not enough
Everyone's a little bit a lot of the time

The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?
The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?

When now is not the time, tomorrow disagrees
But your real world isn't ready to face the face behind the real me
Time to think it over, over trying to overthink
I've had enough, everybody's limited to what's on their mind

The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?
The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?

Spiders, spiders, spiders, spiders
Spiders, spiders, spiders, spiders
Make yourself a martyr's pet and watch them all escape
Make yourself at home instead, you'll lose your toxic ways

Go in alone, suffer for your feelings, I'm not enough
But everyone's a little bitter all of the time

The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?
The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?

The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?
The spiders come in side by side
Two by two and night by night
Who is food and who is thrown away?
