About This Track

'Brighter' by Slowdive is an alternative track from the album 'Just for a Day' released in 1991. The lyrics move through a dreamlike image of someone drifting in the sky, watching the sun come in, and misunderstanding what they have been told. It then turns to reassurance, pushing back against bleak judgement with the idea that things can look brighter, if you turn around and smile. The refrain-like pull of “Just leave it all to time” frames the song as a patient, gently defiant wait for things to improve.

"Brighter" is a track by Slowdive, from the album Just for a Day, released 1st September 1991. The track is 3:49 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Slowdive.

Lyrics

Brighter

She drifts in the sky, yeah
The birds made of grain
She can now see the sun
And everyone said, yeah
You're better off dead but
She didn't know we were alone

And when it all looks brighter
Just turn around and smile
When it's looking better
Just leave it all to time
Just leave it all to time

She said don't you know, yeah
There's people in places
And places is what made her see
And everyone said, yeah
She's better off dead but
She looked like she wanted to live

And when it all looks brighter
Just turn around and smile
When it's looking better
Just leave it all to time
Just leave it all to time

When it all looks brighter
Just turn around and smile
And when it's looking better
Just leave it all to time
Just leave it all to time
Just leave it all to time
