About This Track

Summer Walker cuts through the performance of seduction with surgical precision on 'BP'. A young man arrives confident in his material possessions and charm, convinced they will impress her into compliance. She dismantles each assumption methodically: his house, his fame, his sense of entitlement to her time. The song is a rejection dressed as instruction, each verse another way of saying no. What makes it land is Walker's refusal to match his energy. She stays composed, almost bored by the routine, her voice steady as she catalogs his miscalculations. The lyrics work because they name the specific arrogance at play: the assumption that all women respond to the same script, that material comfort erases the need for genuine connection. By the end, she has moved on entirely, leaving him to find someone more easily impressed.

"BP" is a track by Summer Walker, from the album Last Day of Summer, released 11th October 2018. The track is 1:49 long. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Summer Walker.

Lyrics

BP

Young girl in hard Daisy Dukes
You thought you'd have a great night
You thought with your hot rod and your fast rides
That I'll just fall in love with you
And agree for you to take me home
But boy was you wrong

It's clear to me, you think that we are all the same
That I'll be impressed by your house on the hills
And the fame you claim
Telling me what I can't get out of you
What you will do
What you won't do
But I don't need you, and I'm not supposed to

Say you never been friendzoned before
Hopefully your ego will defuse poor child
You look so confused
Guess you've got a reality check
'Cause I got my own check
So, move onto the next who's more impressed
Rid of all your fancy things that don't mean nothing to me
That'll get old but not if you got
A heart of gold
