‘Mary’ by Supergrass is a 1999 rock track from the album ‘Supergrass’. The lyrics focus on a narrator who is taken with a girl called Mary, mixing flirtation with an aggressively playful, teasing insistence that others will be won over. There is a streak of shock tactics and vivid, slightly grotesque detail, including the claim that her teeth are green, alongside promises of guiding people “further into” the narrator’s dream. The overall tone is cocky and coercive in its confidence, with delight in provocation rather than restraint.
"Mary" is a single by Supergrass, from the album Supergrass, released 19th September 1999. The track is 4:00 long. It's filed under Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 7 articles about Supergrass.
