Steve Lacy has teamed up with SZA on new single 'is it cool?'
The R&B collaborators link up ahead of his album 'Oh yeah?'.
About This Track
'Ur' opens SZA's project Z with a meditation on identity and self-deception. Over production from Larry Fisherman, she moves through personality types and social masks, asking whether freedom and clarity are real or elaborate fictions we've been sold. The song builds its argument through repetition, the title phrase becoming a mantra that collapses the distance between self and other, singular and plural. The track sustains a mood of weary scepticism. SZA's voice moves between direct address and introspection, calling out the performance of being a "Superwoman" whilst admitting her own disorientation. There's a sharpness to the observations here, a refusal of easy answers, that sets the tone for what follows on the EP.
"Ur" is a track by SZA, from the album Z, released 7th April 2014. The track is 3:56 long. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about SZA.

'Middle of Nowhere' arrives on 1st May through Lost Highway Records.

There’s a pop dungeon where artists live, sometimes for years, where they say, “it’s coming!” about an album that’s in the works (ahem, Rihanna, ahem, Sky Ferreira). SZA did a stint down there after releasing her cult and critical fave debut ‘Ctrl’ in 2017.
A great leap forward from now indisputable pop superstar.

The clip follows SZA as she exacts her revenge on her ex-boyfriend.

A 20 second clip appears to be heavily influenced by the Quentin Tarantino film of the same name.
