About This Track
'Point' by The Districts is an alternative track from the 2017 album 'Popular Manipulations'. The lyrics press a worried, time-worn question about plans and outcomes, with a recurring sense of erosion, as if expectations keep breaking down. A figure called Nancy is addressed, and the speaker frames things as something you try to appear to accept, even while knowing it will not go the way you wanted, or unfold as you dreamed. The imagery turns from waves and shoreline repetition to stones turning to sand, giving the song an exhausted, resigned pulse, capped by the insistence that the speaker knows in their heart.
