'Climax' strips away Usher's usual R&B grandeur for something more austere. Produced by Diplo, the track teases EDM-like synths at the outset before dissolving into a sparse, restrained arrangement that holds the emotional weight of the lyric in sharp relief. Where the title promises crescendo, the song delivers the opposite: a relationship examined at its breaking point, all momentum stalled.
Usher adopts the voice of someone caught in the paralysis of ending, the chorus cycling through the same admission of stalemate. The production refuses to swell or resolve, mirroring the lyric's central concession that sometimes love reaches its peak and tips straight into collapse. It is a study in withholding, the kind of surefire hit you somehow know all the words to without remembering which album it came from.
"Climax" is a single by USHER, from the album Looking 4 Myself (Expanded Edition), released 11th June 2012. The track is 3:53 long. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 3 articles about USHER.
