About This Track

Yeat ditches conventional structure on 'Split', stripping the track down to a hard-hitting chorus and rapid-fire post-chorus. The song circles obsessively around material desire: Bentley automobiles, cash, and the hangers-on drawn to sudden wealth. There is no verse to speak of, just repetition and momentum, the production built to sustain a single idea across its runtime. The lyrical world is one of paranoia and excess. Yeat positions himself as both envied and exploited, surrounded by people who want something from him. Wealth becomes both shield and target. He moves through this landscape in drop-tops and mansions, accumulating and defending in the same breath, the chorus collapsing into a kind of mantra where wanting and having blur into one another.
