About This Track

'War' by Yungblud is a 2025 track that speaks to a volatile kind of devotion, where being seen matters as much as being loved. The lyrics address someone who keeps their inner life hidden, and the narrator responds with self-scrutiny and regret, wishing they could be “a better scar” for the person in question. There is a sense of longing for understanding, paired with the feeling that attempts to speak are met with silence, leaving the narrator stuck in repetition and sacrifice, culminating in a desire to become something less authentic.

"War" is a track by Yungblud, released 19th June 2025. The track is 3:51 long. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Yungblud.

Lyrics

War

Everybody loves the way you are
But you don't let 'em look inside you, do ya?
I wish I could've been a better scar
For you, for you

For every time I try to speak
Is another wasted breath without you
Just another drop of blood I bleed
For you, for you

But I wanna be a fake
I wanna be a liar
I wanna be the one to let you down
I cover up my face

I try to get inspired
But every time I do, you turn around
I wanna be a fake
I thought we were the same

And did you see the beauty in the fall?
Oh, does it make you happy when I break down?
We start a revolution, then we stop again
Again
Again

But I wanna be a fake
I wanna be a liar
I wanna be the one to let you down
I cover up my face
I try to get inspired
But every time I do, you turn around

I'm fallin' (fallin') now
And soon, I'll hit the ground
I'm callin' (callin') out
I'll always let you down
I wanna be a fake
I thought we were the same

Everybody loves the way you are
But you don't let 'em look inside you, do ya?
