Harry Styles’ Meltdown has announced a new strand of programming dedicated to unsigned and emerging artists as part of this year’s festival at London’s
Southbank Centre.
Taking place on 17th June, the free outdoor event on the Riverside Terrace stage will be presented in partnership with American Express initiative Amex Unsigned, with a line-up of rising artists set to be announced. The showcase forms part of Styles’ wider curation for this year’s edition of Meltdown, which runs from 11th-21st June.
Now in its fourth year, Amex Unsigned supports emerging musicians through mentorship, studio opportunities and live performances at festivals including BST Hyde Park, All Points East and now Meltdown.
Southbank Centre Artistic Director
Mark Ball said: “Supporting emerging artists and opening up opportunities for new talent has always been central to what the Southbank Centre exists to do. This festival stage for unsigned talent will sit at the heart of Meltdown’s bustling festival spirit and reflects a shared belief in creating platforms for artists at pivotal moments in their careers and inviting audiences into spaces of discovery, experimentation and connection.”
The festival has also announced a further wave of talks, performances and participatory events across the Southbank Centre site. Highlights include
Steam Down Presents: Sounds of the Diaspora, Choose Love x
Jon Hopkins, HOURGLASS TECHNO and HOURGLASS DISCO, alongside an in-conversation event with Tomo Campbell.
Harry Styles is the 31st curator of Meltdown, following previous editions overseen by artists including Little Simz, Grace Jones, David Byrne, Yoko Ono and David Bowie.
