Robbie Furze has launched a new project called
M.O.T.H.E.R.Released today via Fullaway Records, the self-titled debut EP sees
The Big Pink and Panic DHH musician teaming up with a rotating circle of collaborators, including
Jamie Hince of
The Kills and
Jamie T.Described as an open-ended collective rather than a fixed band, M.O.T.H.E.R. takes inspiration from projects including Massive Attack, UNKLE and N.E.R.D., with different contributors expected to appear across future releases.
“M.O.T.H.E.R. is a project that responds and adapts to what’s happening in the moment,” Furze says. “This EP came from losing my mother, and everything around it grew out of that, a band of brothers coming together. The next release will be a completely different color and approach.”
Alongside the EP release, the group have also shared the video for lead track ‘MY LOVE’, directed by Madrid-based AI visual artist YZA Voku.
“‘MY LOVE’ reads like a love story,” Furze says. “But it came from losing my mother and having my daughter at the same time, just trying to hold onto hope, because love is everything and all around. It sings like a hymn.”
