Be Your Own Pet: "That chemistry was still there"
Be Your Own Pet roar back with ‘Mommy,’ a triumphant return of ferocious garage punk and unapologetic control after 15 years of hiatus.

Be Your Own Pet is a punk and garage rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2003. The band's lineup has primarily included lead vocalist Jemina Pearl, guitarist Jonas Stein, bassist Nathan Vasquez, and drummer John Eatherly. They initially released singles and EPs through Nashville-based Infinity Cat Records. The band later signed to XL Recordings and Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace/Universal Records for releases in the UK and North America. Their debut album, 'Be Your Own Pet,' was released in 2006 and received positive reviews from publications such as NME and Pitchfork. Following their second album, 'Get Awkward,' in 2008, the group disbanded, citing misogyny directed towards and experienced by Pearl, as well as burnout from industry pressures. After a fourteen-year hiatus, Be Your Own Pet reunited in 2021 at the invitation of musician Jack White to open several southeastern US dates of his Supply Chain Issues Tour, supporting the release of his two studio albums that year.
