Belle and Sebastian are a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1994. Led by Stuart Murdoch, the band has released twelve studio albums. Their name was taken from a short story Murdoch wrote about a boy and girl, which was a play on the 1965 television series Belle and Sebastian. The band has been compared to acts such as the Smiths and Nick Drake.
