BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010. The group consists of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, who co-write or co-produce much of their material. Originally a hip hop group, they expanded their musical style to include a variety of genres. Their lyrics address topics such as mental health, the challenges faced by youth, coming of age, loss, self-love, individualism, and the effects of fame. Their work references literature, philosophy, and psychology, and features an alternate universe storyline. BTS debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment with the single album '2 Cool 4 Skool'. They released their first Korean and Japanese-language studio albums, 'Dark & Wild' and 'Wake Up', in 2014. Their second Korean studio album, 'Wings', released in 2016, was their first to sell over one million copies in South Korea.
