Eric Daniel Pierre Cantona is a French former professional footballer and actor, born on 24 May 1966. During his football career, he was known for his physical strength and technical skill, with the ability to contribute both creatively and as a goalscorer. He was primarily utilized as a deep-lying forward but also played as a centre-forward, attacking midfielder, or central midfielder. Cantona played for several clubs, including Auxerre, Martigues, Marseille, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Nîmes, and Leeds United, before finishing his career at Manchester United. At Manchester United, he won four Premier League titles in five years, including two League and FA Cup Doubles. He wore the number 7 shirt at Manchester United and was recognized for turning up his collar. In 2004, Pelé included him in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players. He is nicknamed "King Eric" by Manchester United supporters. Cantona achieved league championships in both France and England in seven of his last eight full seasons as a professional, and secured at least one trophy in eight of his last nine seasons. After retiring from football, he pursued a career in acting.
