Nicole Monique Wray, known professionally as Lady Wray, is an American singer-songwriter and music producer born on May 2, 1979. She released her debut single, 'Make It Hot,' in June 1998, which reached the top five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold after six weeks. Her debut album, also titled 'Make It Hot,' was released in August 1998 on The Goldmind Inc. She appeared on Missy Elliott's song 'All N My Grill' in 1999, which earned a gold certification by the SNEP. Wray left The Goldmind Inc. in 2001 after her second album, 'Elektric Blue,' was delayed and ultimately shelved. In 2003, she signed with Roc-A-Fella Records, becoming the first female R&B artist to sign with the label, and released the single 'If I Was Girlfriend' before the label's brief dissolution. Her album 'Lovechild' was scheduled for release in 2005 on Dame Dash Music Group/Def Jam Records but was shelved when the label parted ways with Def Jam. In 2012, she formed a music duo with Terri Walker called Lady, and they released a self-titled album in March 2013.
