MARISSA NADLER

Marissa Nadler (born April 5, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter. She has been active since 2000 and is signed to Sacred Bones Records and Bella Union. Her tenth studio album, New Radiations, was released in August 2025. Nadler's music combines traditional folk, Gothic Americana, and dreamy pop within an original musical framework. Her work incorporates elements of old-school country and folk, as well as experimental and black metal influences. She is often associated with the term "dream folk." Nadler sings in a mezzo-soprano and has received praise for her vocals. Pitchfork described her voice as "one you would follow straight into Hades" and "textured and angelic, with just a hint of pain captured within her iridescent falsetto." The Boston Globe noted that her voice "could have lured men to their deaths at sea," describing it as an intoxicating soprano drenched in reverb that reaches clear heights and tapers off.
