

Jenny Hval, born on 11 July 1980, is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, record producer, and novelist. She has released nine solo albums, two under the alias Rockettothesky and seven under her own name. Her fifth studio album, Apocalypse, Girl, was released in 2015 on Sacred Bones and received widespread critical acclaim. Hval has continued to release solo albums on Sacred Bones and later on 4AD Records. Under the name Lost Girls, she has collaborated with her husband and musical partner Håvard Volden, releasing two full-length albums, Menneskekollektivet (2021) and Selvutsletter (2023). Before her music career, Hval studied literature and worked as a freelance columnist and writer. She has published four novels: Perlebryggeriet (2009, translated as Paradise Rot: A Novel), Inn i ansiktet (2012), Å hate Gud (2018, translated as Girls Against God), and Gott hassen (2023).
