NCT 127 is a South Korean boy band formed and managed by SM Entertainment. It is the first fixed sub-unit of the larger group NCT and was established in 2016. The group debuted on July 7, 2016, with their extended play NCT#127, initially comprising seven members: Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, and Haechan. Doyoung and Johnny joined the unit in December 2016 prior to the release of their second EP Limitless. Jungwoo was added as the final member in September 2018 before the release of their first studio album, Regular-Irregular. NCT 127 is known for their experimental hip hop-based music, which they refer to as "neo music," as well as their vocal and rap performances, choreography, and stage presence. The group gained domestic recognition in 2017 with the song "Cherry Bomb" and expanded their international audience with the release of "Kick It" in 2020. In April 2019, SM Entertainment signed marketing and distribution agreements with Capitol Music Group and Caroline Distribution to support the group's growing global presence.
