Sampa Tembo, known professionally as Sampa the Great, is a Zambian singer, rapper, and songwriter born on August 9, 1993. She was based in Australia from 2014 to 2020. Her debut solo album, The Return, was released in September 2019 and reached number 12 on the ARIA Albums Chart. She won the Best Hip Hop Release award at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards for her single "Final Form." In 2020, she received the same award for The Return, along with awards for Best Female Artist and Best Independent Release. Sampa the Great was the first artist to win the Australian Music Prize twice, for Birds and the Bee9 in 2017 and for The Return. She returned to Zambia in late 2020 and released her second studio album, As Above, So Below, in September 2022.
