TASH SULTANA

Tash Sultana, born Taj Hendrix Sultana on 15 June 1995, is an Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer. They are known for performing as a "one-person band" and gained international recognition with the 2016 single 'Jungle,' which ranked third in Triple J's Hottest 100 that year. In 2017, Sultana had three songs included in the Hottest 100, with 'Mystik' at number 28, 'Murder to the Mind' at number 43, and a cover of MGMT's 'Electric Feel' at number 78. Sultana grew up in Melbourne and began playing guitar at age three, later starting a music career through busking. They have been active on Bandcamp since 2013, and their recordings garnered millions of views on YouTube in 2016. Their debut EP, Notion, was released in September 2016, followed by a sold-out world tour in early 2017. Sultana plays a wide range of instruments, including guitar, keyboard, bass, percussion, trumpet, saxophone, flute, mandolin, oud, harmonica, and panpipes. They incorporate these instruments into loop performances and utilize percussive and finger-tapping guitar techniques. Sultana has a vocal range spanning five octaves.
