MGMT is an American rock band formed by Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser in 2002 in Middletown, Connecticut. The band was initially known as "The Management" before adopting the name MGMT in 2005. They signed with Cantora Records, a label co-founded by Will Griggs, a New York University undergraduate, and later signed with Columbia and RED Ink in 2006. Their debut album, Oracular Spectacular, was released in 2007. Following this, Richardson, Berman, and Matthew Asti joined the band in the studio for the recording of Congratulations, which was released in April 2010. In January 2011, MGMT began work on their third studio album, which was released in September 2013. Their fourth studio album, Little Dark Age, was released in 2018 and marked the end of their contract with Columbia. In 2024, the band released their fifth studio album, Loss of Life. The Justice remix of "Electric Feel" won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, at the 51st Grammy Awards.
