

Adidja Azim Palmer, born on 7 January 1976, is a Jamaican dancehall artist known by the stage name Vybz Kartel. He is also referred to as Worl' Boss, Teacha, and King of Dancehall. His music and persona have been described as provocative and mischievous, with Rolling Stone noting that he attained folk-hero status in Jamaica and has captivated audiences while offending detractors. Kartel has been credited as an influence on Western artists, including Drake, who has cited him as one of his biggest inspirations. His notable singles include 'Romping Shop' (2009), 'Dancehall Hero' (2010), and 'Summer Time' (2011). He has collaborated with various hip hop and R&B artists such as Major Lazer, Rihanna, Missy Elliott, Travis Scott, and Alison Hinds. In 2014, Kartel was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his associate Clive 'Lizard' Williams. Despite his incarceration, he continued to release music, with over 50 songs released in 2016 alone.
