“We clashed with some really great bands,” Tom Weaver groans. “Decade, Sorority Noise, and Trophy Eyes were all on at the same time as us. We thought we'd be lucky to get twenty people.” As it turns out, they needn’t have worried. For the Slam Dunk crowd packed in front of the Break Through stage for the half hour they were performing, Casey were they only band that seemed to matter. “It was pretty much full from start to finish,” the frontman marvels. “It was really great.” Following the release of their debut album ‘Love Is Not Enough’ last year, Casey are a band on the rise. “It's been really good. We've been fortunate,” Tom expresses. “It's been staggered worldwide. Last September it came out in the UK and Europe. A few weeks ago it came out in North America. Maybe two weeks ago it came out in Australia and Asia. It's felt we've constantly been getting bits of new response to it.” “Every couple of months we'll have a new group of people saying 'I've just heard the album and it's really good,’” he continues. “To us it's old, but to them, it's still brand new. It's been positive so far. We've been lucky.” Nominated as Best Breakthrough Band in this year’s Heavy Music Awards, Casey only seem set to soar higher. “That was bizarre!” Tom exclaims of the nomination. “Until the morning of the announcement, we had no idea that we were even being considered. We just had an email through saying 'Hey, you've been nominated for this award. If you can post this out this afternoon...' and we were just like, 'Oh my god, this is insane.'” “A lot of the other bands in it we're all huge fans of,” the frontman adds excitedly. “Personally, I love Black Foxxes. They're incredible. To be even considered alongside them is outrageous,” he laughs. “It's the first award we've ever been nominated for. It's insane.” The nomination itself might have come as a surprise, but Casey have been geared towards success from the day they started.
