Courtney Barnett has been nominated for several Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards, including Album of the Year for her debut, ‘Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit’. She’s also up for Best Video (‘Pedestrian at Best’ - watch below), Best Independent Release, Best Australian Live Act, Breakthrough Artist, and Best Rock Album; in addition to winning the already announced gong for Best Cover Art. The ceremony will be held on 26th November at The Star in Sydney. Other prominent nominees include Tame Impala, 5 Seconds of Summer, Nick Cave, Vance Joy, Northlane, Iggy Azalea and Sia. “2015 has been another stellar year for Australian music with 14 Australian artists reaching the top of the ARIA Charts,” comments ARIA CEO Dan Rosen in a statement, “and the likes of AC/DC, Courtney Barnett, Iggy Azalea, Tame Impala and Vance Joy featuring strongly on charts and festival stages around the world. “This success is celebrated today with the winners of the Fine Arts and Artisan Awards and the announcement of the nominated artists for the 2015 ARIA Awards Connected By Telstra.
