Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band formed in Chicago in 1996. The band originally consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass), and Tosh Peterson (drums). The band was founded by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter. Their debut single, 'Sundials,' was released in 1997. Doran was replaced by Andriano after the single's release, with Andriano taking on the role of co-lead vocalist alongside Skiba. The band released an EP, 'For Your Lungs Only,' in 1998, followed by their debut studio album, 'Goddamnit,' in the same year. After their second album, 'Maybe I'll Catch Fire,' in 2000, Porter left the band and was replaced by Mike Felumlee for the recording of 'From Here to Infirmary' in 2001. The album featured singles such as 'Stupid Kid' and 'Private Eye,' and increased the band's exposure. Their next album, 'Good Mourning,' released in 2003, charted highly on the Billboard 200 and marked the recording debut of drummer Derek Grant. In 2005, the band released 'Crimson,' which incorporated more overdubs and instrumentation, expanding their punk rock influences. This direction continued with their 2008 album, 'Agony & Irony,' released on Epic Records.
