[Intro]
Yo people, I wanted to say a few words for the tape to like, you know what I mean, give you lot context for what I'm about to do for the next half an hour and that
But yeah this is something I wrote, you know, beginning of this year, in the making of Blair Babies, that like kind of sums up what exactly a Blair baby is innit
[Prose]
Being Gen Z is engendered by a feeling of hopelessness in the face of a world built and shaped before our input. The life and death of countless movements in history that would have stood opposed to colonialism, capitalism, every fucking '-ism' really occurred decades before we came to be
In the wake of the end of history, we are born into a landscape where the consolation prize we feebly and gladly accept as reparations for our participation in humanity's death is consumption; constant consumption. We believe, with nothing else to do, we must accept and alleviate the hollow hopelessness and its effects with a non-stop stream of dopamine. Few of us recognise that this is not a life. Even fewer of us seek something outside of consumption and placation
The children of postmodernity, New Labour and, born in the shadows of Thatcherism, represent a lost tribe that I now assign the name Blair Babies
[Instrumental]
