ALT BLK ERA have unveiled new EP cut ‘Silhouettes In The Mirror’, a response to a “distorted” reality
The Nottingham duo's 'Our World' EP arrives later this month.

ALT BLK ERA have put out a new track called 'Silhouettes In The Mirror'. It arrives as the last piece of new material before the pair's 'Our World' EP lands on 22nd May through LAB Records.
The EP represents the sister duo's first body of work since their debut album 'Rave Immortal'. Across its tracklist, which includes 'Tissues', 'Lost In The Back Of My Mind', 'Okay (Cyber Racing)' and the title track, the duo continue to merge rock, pop and electronic production.
Speaking about what inspired the latest single, the band's Nyrobi Beckett-Messam said: "We wrote this song because the level of violence and injustice we are witnessing feels so disorientating. The chaos and turmoil has an impact on all of us and we have to ask what have we become as a people? 'Silhouettes In The Mirror' shows how this exposure shapes us and how it leads us to see distorted reflections of ourselves because of the impact of a distorted world."
Offering further insight into the project as a whole, Chaya said: "We're excited about the 'Our World' EP. It tells the story of our feelings in this moment, when there are so many shocking and devastating world events. The first tracks reflect our struggle to process the overwhelm: 'Tissues' explores sadness and grief, while 'Lost In The Back Of My Mind' captures the desire to escape reality. 'Silhouettes In The Mirror' confronts our new identities in this world, and 'Okay (Cyber Racing)' expresses our need to feel joy, even if just for a moment so we can leave our worries behind."
Songwriters and producers in their own right, Nyrobi (21) and Chaya (18), the pair also champion hidden disability awareness within the industry - Nyrobi lives with ME/CFS and has been collaborating with BBC Introducing on initiatives to create accessible backstage environments for artists with disabilities at festivals.
A UK headline tour kicks off on 21st May.
