Artists: Avery Tucker

Avery Tucker has announced his debut solo album ‘Paw’, set for release on 10th October.

The former Girlpool member has shared lead single ‘Like I’m Young’, accompanied by a new video. The album marks Tucker’s first solo venture following Girlpool’s disbandment in 2022.

‘Paw’ was recorded between Livingston, MT and Encino, CA, with collaborators including co-producer Alaska Reid, A. G. Cook, Katie Gavin of MUNA, and Aaron Maine of Porches. The eleven-track album features Maine on production and vocals for ‘Baby Broke’, while Gavin appears on the track ‘Angel’.

“‘Like I’m Young’ is probably one of the most emotionally raw songs I’ve ever written,” Tucker explains. “There are lines in the song I remember writing and thinking ‘I won’t keep this in.’ I decided to take this song to the edge of myself at the time, and whenever I play the song live I walk alongside that cliff within me and feel the height.”

Speaking about the collaboration with Reid, Tucker says, “She encouraged me to not shy away from the rawness I had written. Instead of dressing the songs in production, she pushed me to serve the spirit of the songs.”
